Infested

Infested is a science fiction horror story set on an unnamed space ship. As a crew member serving under Commander Lakmir, you wake up in a stasis pod with vague memories of contracting some kind of illness on an alien planet. With the crew apparently missing, your goals are to discover what happened to the ship and its crew, and to find a cure for your mysterious illness before it's too late.

It is a point-and-click adventure game that advertises itself on the title screen as inspired by the developers of the NES ports of the MacVenture games and its interface works the same way. The player has a list of verbs at the bottom of the screen and can examine, use, take, or open objects in the environment and their inventory. By combining information from the environment and items found throughout to solve the game's puzzles, the player unlocks new areas of the ship and learns more about the situation that the protagonist is trapped in.

Much like the games it is based on, death is lurking around every corner. Using the wrong item or entering the wrong area will result in a short summary of your protagonist's death and a small loss of progress, usually returning gameplay to the previous room. Many of the game's puzzles involve finding ways to avoid these deaths, or get rid of the cause of them. The game only advances time as actions are chosen, so the player always has unlimited time to consider the consequences, even in one of the game's tense situations.
