Encounter is a retro adventure game where you play the role of a private investigator who must locate and free a kidnapped teenager from a posh manor in England in the year 1982. The games uses a "noir" cartoon style where the top half of the screen shows pixel art representations of what the player see, including animation and speech bubbles, while the bottom part of the screen is where the player enters commands to indicate their intent.

The game is a fanmade remaster of the 1983 game of the same name by Severn Software. The Windows version of the game uses a launcher/emulator to run the Oric version. The original version of the game did not have graphics. This version is designed to use floppy disk drives and floppies instead of audio tapes.
