4-Lung Boy

4-Lung Boy is a point-and-click adventure game that centers on themes of alienation and adaptation. The story unfolds roughly one week after the protagonist, nicknamed Golden Boy, moves to a small town, where they encounter surreal figures including an anxious astronaut and mysterious “striped siblings”. The game adopts a minimalist black-and-white aesthetic, reminiscent of a quick sketch in the margins of an exercise book, backed by pared-down sound design and photographic rotoscopes.

Gameplay follows a classic inventory-puzzle format common to point-and-click adventures: players must collect items and fulfill a checklist of tasks presented by the various eccentric inhabitants. The framing of the protagonist’s disorientation and attempts to adapt to a new place imbue the journey with themes of first-impressions and community displacement.

Its short length is due to originally being created for the Saltworld.net Game Jam in 2013.
